She has done some work in a physiotherapy clinic as well as personal training. She has been practicing and have had a love for yoga for many years. Experiencing how the body breathes, flows and connects with the universe inspired my to further my life on my spiritual journey. I am a Reiki practitioner and enjoy energy healing, experiencing the magic of nature, and traveling the world. This crazy adventure we call life has brought me to places I thought only existed in my dreams. I have had the opportunity to travel around the world, meet many, many amazing people and have experienced the absolute beauty of the universe. Through these experiences and my own personal practice I have learned the importance of love, presence, and compassion in yoga as well as in life. I try to incorporate these values into everything I do especially in my teaching philosophy. Just as Larry envisioned it is my hope to share the love of the practice with people from all walks of life from around the world. As a yoga teacher I wish to bring out the best version of my students as possible. I do this by guiding them with the utmost love, presence and compassion allowing them to heal, grow, and nurture their souls as their hearts shine bright.

More details about Kelli

“I was introduced to yoga in college but I was in and out without knowing how the practice would eventually change my life. I had not practiced in years until I visited a friend who was teaching in Costa Rica in 2013. At this point I fell in love with Central America and the practice. I was only there for a few days but when I got home I quit my job, sold my car, and booked a teacher training in Nicaragua.

I found It’s Yoga Nicaragua and my teachers Edwin and Catarina Lacayo by simply taking the risk into the unknown. I didn’t care that I had not been studying – I just knew that I wanted to learn more about this amazing practice. This also gave me the opportunity to fall in love with Nicaragua. After completing my 200 hours I did not begin teaching right away, it was more a way for me to learn more about myself and yoga. I began going home to Florida and then finding myself back in Nicaragua until I finally let go of all my belongings and made the permanent move in August of 2015. After having a couple of illnesses (which caused me to lose a little practice) and working to save for the move I was feeling a little out of balance so I decided to retake the training with my gurus so that I could reconnect within my inner light of awareness. So this is the beginning of my journey. I am more than grateful to have such a great connection and opportunity to continue to learn from my teachers. I am finally letting go of all fears and jumping in so that I can continue to grow and strengthen not only my practice but my teaching. This is a new chapter in my life and I am overwhelmed to continue this amazing journey.”

Side notes about me – The fast pace of today’s society and the stresses of everyday life tend to cause us to lose focus on ourselves, happiness and our spiritual practice. If we take the time slow down this life that we have become so attached to and travel to a beautiful place we have more time to focus our attention and deepen our practice.

We all have different ideas of how to go within and deepen this connection to our higher power and yoga is one of the many ways to direct our focus inward on ourselves and our own happiness.

-The experience of yoga teacher training in Ostional Beach Nicaragua was the most amazing of a lifetime. The struggles of everyday life disappear and the enjoyment of the nature and stillness take over the body, mind, and soul which in turn deepens our connection with our higher power.

The beauty and the distance for home allow time to check in with ourselves, our higher power, and our happiness which creates a feeling of inner peace. There are no distractions to cause our minds to become unfocused so it is much easier to sit and meditate on our higher power. The sights, sounds, smells are all on a completely different level because of the true naturally beauty that is all around. And we start to notice how powerful the energy is all around us and we were all created by this higher being.

The expectations and need for approval are lifted, the burden of our busy lives comes to a pause, the mind can calm and spiritual practice deepens. -I feel as though I will always be a student of yoga more than a teacher because I will be learning just as much from students as they will from me. I also know that my Yoga teaching philosophy is still just a rough draft of what it will become throughout my life. As my teaching becomes more confident and unique I will have to revise this philosophy quite often and continue to grow as I experience the gratitude of being a teacher.

I hope that through the years to come I will be able to introduce my students to all the forms of yoga, meditation, and pranayama, allowing them to find their practice and to always explore it, find what works while creating a higher awareness of mind, body, and spirit.

Yoga has helped my trust myself and my journey but most importantly how to love myself. As this happens I have felt peace and balance within me. It continues to remind me to live in the moment. There is always something new to learn and practice and this is the journey.
